Portuguese Bend Landslide Update
We have good news regarding the landslide.
According to the City of RPV, the five vertical wells operating at the toe of the landslide are pumping 600 gallons of water PER MINUTE and over the last 2 weeks and have reduced the artesian water source (located at 300 feet) by more than 20% resulting in a decrease of land movement from 13 inches per week to 8 inches. If the wells operate at 100%, they will pump out 315 million gallons in one year’s time!
A 6th well is under construction and two more wells are being planned.
According to a city official 'we are figuring things out.'
